Projet: Le chemain de fer clandestin

My project is on the underground rail road. It includes songs that slaves sang and codes that slaves used. It also contains routes that slaves took and what there life was like before, during and after escaping.

Quelles sont les informations les plus importantes à retenir de ta recherche que tu aimerais partager avec les autres Canadiens ?

The most interesting thing I learned about my topic is that slaves used codes. They used codes to disguise what they were saying from non abolitionists. In fact the underground rail road was code for the escape route to Canada. During there escape route, abolitionists would hang up quilts or put a single candle in the window, that way slaves could tell if it was a safe house.

Quelle est la chose la plus intéressante ou surprenante que tu as appris en préparant ton projet et en effectuant ta recherche ?

The most important lesson that I leaned that I would like to share with other Canadians is that without the underground rail road, Canada would not have such a diverse population in the 1800's. It would have taken much longer for Canadians and Americans to find Africans. Even though slavery was a horrible thing, it helped are country become more welcome to other citizens.

Peux-tu comparer ta vie aujourd'hui avec celle de celui ou ceux qui sont présentés dans ton projet ?

The difference between my life and a slaves life is that I have never had to work so hard and I doubt that I would ever have to. If a slave did something a little bit different from the given task they got horribly whipped. In comparison to my life, if i do something a little different from the original task, the person in charge asks me politely to fix what's wrong and then I fix it without getting hurt at all. Plus I am well fed compared to what they got to eat.
